Prof. José Luis Lanciego
Prof. José Luis LanciegoChair
José L. Lanciego is a Senior Scientist at the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) and Associate Professor of Neurosciences at the University of Navarra Medical School, Pamplona, Spain. Originally trained as a Medical Doctor (University of Salamanca, June 1990), he received his PhD in Neuroscience with honors at the University of Salamanca (October, 1994). Later on he joined the Department of Anatomy & Neurosciences of Amsterdam Vrije Universiteit, as a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Floris. G. Wouterlood. Upon return from Amsterdam he was recruited by the University of Navarra (February, 1997) to further lead the Laboratory of Functional Basal Ganglia Neuroanatomy. José L. Lanciego’s current research focuses on gene therapy approaches for neurodegenerative diseases using non-human primate models. He is the Chair of the International Brain Research Organization Pan-European Committee, a Board Member of the European Brain Council and the International Basal Ganglia Society Council.
Audrey Craven
Audrey CravenVice Chair
Audrey Craven is the Vice Chair of the EBF, the founder and president of the Migraine Association of Ireland (MAI) and an internationally acknowledged patient advocate for migraine. Audrey, a lifelong migraineur, is committed to sharing hard-won experience of migraine self-management in the hope of improving quality of life for all those affected. She is the past president of both the European Migraine and Headache Alliance (EMHA) and the European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA). Audrey was the only patient representative on the European Commission’s ‘Healthy Brain; Healthy Europe’ scientific board for European Month of the Brain 2013.
Christina Dalla
Christina Dalla
Christina Dalla is Board Member of the EBF, Associate Professor of Pharmacology, Neuropsychopharmacology group, Medical School, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, and President-elect of the Mediterranean Neuroscience Society and founding member of the Hellenic Brain Council. Dr Dalla’s research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms mediating male and female vulnerability to stress-related mental illnesses, such as depression, as well as sex differences in treatment response. Dr Dalla currently investigates the role of neurosteroids and neural circuits in sex differences in depression with the use of pharmacological, behavioral and neurochemical methods. Dr Dalla has earned two Marie Curie fellowships, a L’Oreal-Unesco award for young women in science and a European College of Neuropsychopharmacology fellowship award.

With teaching interest and research focus on addiction psychiatry and public mental health, Prof. Dom is the Past President of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), the European Federation of Addiction Societies (EUFAS), the Flemish Association of Psychiatry and of the Belgian Professional Association of Medical Specialists in Psychiatry.
Prof. Roger Adan
Prof. Roger Adan
Professor of Molecular Pharmacology, Dept Translational Neuroscience, UMC Utrecht. Roger Adan was trained as a molecular neurobiologist and received his PhD in 1992 on the regulation of vasopressin and oxytocin gene expression. Since 2002 he is full professor in molecular pharmacology. Via his work on melanocortin receptors he became an expert in molecular and neural pathways underlying feeding behavior, obesity and eating disorders. His lab has a strong multidisciplinary character. A variety of strategies (pharmacogenetics, viral vector technology, in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics and automated behavioral and physiological analysis) is used to unravel mechanism underlying behavior. The main focus is on feeding, since this is a natural behavior ideally suited to dissect neural circuits that underlie decision making, anxiety, anhedonia, impulsivity and reward seeking.
